This is a one-day, industry-led course presented by the Merchants Exchange and offers students and emerging professionals the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals to garner a understanding of the broad range of jobs offered by the maritime industry. The focus of this seminar is to allow students to get into the industry or explore a different career path the ability to get a behind-the-scenes look into the day-to-day life of a variety of roles, and advice on their next steps.

By the end of this course, the student will be more familiar with: • The daily roles of vessel agents, tug & barge operators, vessel crew, launch services, vessel construction, and Portland Fire & Rescue. • Potential entry-level roles for those interested in entering the maritime industry. • An idea of where major industries are located along the Willamette/Columbia River.
All course materials will be provided to the students during this seminar. Students will be provided with a PDF copy of the slides after the completion of the course, as well as a printed copy of the Certificate of Completion.
Students will not be required to complete a post assessment in order to complete the course. Students will be prompted at the end of the course to complete a short anonymous survey to provide feedback.
